    New to this site

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and actually new to talking to anyone outside of my immediate family about my son and his "issues". I can use all the advice I can get and hopefully something will work, besides the not so great advice family members give. My husband and I have a 6 year...

    Risperdal

Hi: My son somewhat recently had his medications changed to place him on Risperdal. He was previously on Depakote and Clonidine. The psychiatric felt that Risperdal would adress his aggresive behavior better than the Depakote. When I read up on Risperdal though, it says it can increase agressiveness 26% of...

    Depakote

My 9 yo Daughter has been put on Depakote along with her risperdal and clonidine for her manic state. Is there anything that I should look out for? Does anyone have anything to tell me about Depakote? Good or Bad.

    prescription medications

I honestly believe that there are times when people need medications rx'd to function normally. But, am I the only person that believes that sometimes medications are rx'd when they shouldn't be- just because a good therapist can't be found to deal with psychiatric problems so people start thinking medications MUST be needed?

    He's sick

It was just a matter of time. This is the end of the 2nd wk on Prozac. He's hot and is seeing black spots in front of his eyes when he tries to stand up. I think I can nip this one in the bud because I know what we're dealing with. Last time, with-Zoloft, I thought he was crying wolf. Live and...

tdocs for kids on the spectrum?

My difficult child, 11, on the spectrum, has plenty of issues that need working out (abusive situations at past school placements). But he absolutely will not speak to a stranger about this. He only will talk to me about it in short bits and if I ask too many questions he becomes very annoyed. We were at...

    Could this be bipolar?

I am new to this site, which someone recommended to me. I have been reading the boards for a few weeks and decided to go ahead post and get some feedback on my situation. I have an 8 year old son who has been difficult since he was a toddler. He has seen a couple of psychiatrists and one gave...

I can't eat the Heart Cereal!!!!

OK so I haven't really posted about K too much because well, she isn't doing well... same old story... she is up to 100mg Topamax, and still at 200mg Lamictal. Yeah I know I don't think these are the medications for here or the right combo. I would like to revisit Trileptal maybe with Abilify and the...

    Obsessions #2

We also deal with obsessions, yes, cell phone requests are among them. I just yelled at him, once, briefly, then I stopped! because it is just too insane: he wants a bigger outdoor trash can RIGHT NOW over and over all evening long (we don't need a bigger one and it costs more), and the...

    switching doctor's

hi, so i've thought alot past few days on how to handle stuff with this whole "thorazine" drug that was prescribed difficult child. I did my best, worked it through, read the clinical trials, went to the fda site to view the incedences of the drug. At end of day I am not giving it to her. I contacted her...

    Need some input

Well, we are on day 5 of starting Zyprexa. I have some questions. The doctor chose Zyprexa this time because it tends to cause weight gain, and with taking Concernta, where he only eats maybe once a day, we thought this might tend to balance it out. But, his appetite is just as poor as it was...

5mg Celexa & sleeping very late

difficult child is still on summer vacation. He did lousy last year at school and in summer school. Recently the psychiatrist added 5mg celexa and we upped it to 10mg, now he is back on 5mg... either way on both doses he's been sleeping til 12noon or 1pm. Last night he went to sleep at 10p and woke at 1pm...

    Medication questions again

So, in the past we've tried 2 other SSRI's for my difficult child's aside from the Celexa they are both currently on. Every time we upped the dose from 10 to 20 on the other SSRI's, disaster ensued. They got rage-y and angry and just impossible to deal with. We've been on Celexa 10 mg for 9 months and...

    Need some advice please

difficult child is having such a hard time in the morning getting moving. I had to threaten taking away riding lessons today to get her up. She is near tears every morning. She just keeps repeating that she just can't do it, that it is just too much. But, when we try to make things easier on her like...

    Hypnosis?

Hi, New here and first post. I have a very angry 10 year old daughter. I don't want to get into all the details surrounding the root of her problems but to make a long story short. The divorce of me and her father and her fathers suicide has added fuel to the fire. She is disrespectful...

    difficult child Very Destructive

He's always broken alot of things in his tantrums/rages, but recently it's the hood over the oven- He hit it, and a couple screws fell out and now it's loose, one telephone and the earpiece to another, screen door, dresser drawer (kicked it), and probably more things that i can't think of right...

Figured out why I'm nervous about Lithium

Yay! I know what was bugging me. Now, try and follow my logic (sometimes I confuse myself - I swear, running in cricles does that to me!). difficult child 1 goes into psychiatric hospital for medication assessment two Thurs. ago. They add tenex, increase trileptal and start lowering risperdal. They call me the following...

Really could use some input...it is two against one here

I am angry with my son's insurance company, with his psychiatrist, his therapist and his caseworker. They don't seem to realize that I do have a brain and may know what is best for my child. Okay....neither he or his brother are my biologically born children. They were born to my son and his...

What was that about NO Meltdown Monday? Apparently difficult child 1 didn't get the memo...

Oh he is in RARE form today. I only gave him his patch and not the Focalin because I'm running low and want to save it for school days until we get our refill. And the patch probably won't start working for another 1/2 hour at least, but he's now in his room ranting, ripping up papers and...

I Already Know What You're Gonna Say...

but I need to get it off my chest anyway... This doctor is NUTS!!!! husband was fed-up with the baloney about buying difficult child a horse--so he sent the doctor an email and said that HE needed to talk with the doctor personally about what's been happening and NOT happening with difficult child. So at today's appointment, husband did a...
