Any background on medicare and medicaide so I can help mom?

Medicare if you have it will cover it ( depending on Mom's age) if not, medicaid will. You may only have a limited choice of facilities if you are not private pay or personal insurance does not cover long term care, but again, at least you know your Mom will be cared for by professionals and you and your brother will have relief of stress and worries.
