Any ideas for keeping kitties out of the Christmas tree?

I considered using a spray bottle, but water + electric lights didn't sound like a good mix to me.

We put the new tree up yesterday.

Squirrel likes to taste plastic bags... She was licking the new tree. SIGH. The old one probably didn't taste like plastic anymore!

We have a small motion sensor, it has chime or alarm mode, that we originally bought for Onyxx... The cats DO NOT LIKE the chime mode. I put it facing AWAY from the room, near the tree.

Step - I will have to try the motion sensor - that might actually work. Where can you buy one?

We have a new kitty this Christmas. She is a climber so we were thinking she'll probably try being the angel on top of our tree. I started asking people for suggestions on how to deter her. One person uses a water bottle to spritz their cat when it gets near the tree. Another person's cat is afraid of their vacuum. They just put their vacuum by the tree and the cat doesn't go near it!

My kitties hate the vacuum too. Another great idea!!

LOL I found mine at Wal Mart... The chime is super-annoying to humans, I can only imagine to the cats...
