Hello Everyone~
I just wanted to let the CD family know that I will be going back to the Maternal/Fetal Dr. again today for another ultrasound to check baby Emily's kidneys. Let's keep our fingers crossed that everything will look better than it did back in December! I haven't been feeling all that well over the last couple of days, so I am thankful to be having her checked out to be reassured that she is still doing ok. My appointment is at 9:30 so I should be able to post the update around noon or so.

I just got back from my ultra sound and it is NOT better news than my last one... The fluide around her kidneys has continued to remain an issue - Unfortunately, there is also now fluide that is collecting in her uter tubes (these connect the kidney to the bladder). They are going to send me to a pediatric urologist so that they can discuss what will need to be done after delivery. At this point I think that this issue is going to remain until the problem can be fixed, so I am pretty bummed out. Every new parent wants a healthy baby but I guess this just isn't going to happen for me this time around. The appointment with the urologist has been scheduled for Wed. March 30 @ 2:40 - This is also the date of my next ultra sound at the maternal/fetal specialist. I will keep everyone updated as more information is provided to me.

Oh, gentle hugs... Yes everyone wants a healthy baby, but apparently you are the person so designated to be best able to help Emily when she is born!

Let us know, sweetie... In the meantime, I'm keeping you both on my prayer list.

Sending very caring and supportive thoughts and prayers your way. I can't imagine how difficult it is not fully knowing the impact of these difficulties. Hugs. DDD

I am not exactly sure... Possibly because there isn't anything that they are going to want to do until I deliver??? (which is just a guess) I know that I am going to have the consultation with the best office in the city of Grand Rapids - They work right out of the Devos Children's Hospital that was just completed/opened in January 2011.

Jones -

Im not 100% certain - but I think this is what happened to my sister with her baby. (baby now 17) and she's had a few procedures......but other than having to pee 2x a night and some pain on and off like Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)'s ---she's otherwise a very healthy girl. (not certain) but I know my niece has had kindey and kidney tube (for lack of better words) problems most of her life that started in the womb.

Believe me - she's healthy as can be.

Sending prayers ------

Thanks Star, for sharing your sister's experience with her daughter. It kind of puts things in perspective...

I know that baby Emily is going to eventually be fine, but it just scares me to think that they MAY have to do surgery on her when she is soooo little. (I guess that they usually go in thru the bladder to open the tubes and drain the fluide)The Maternal/Fetal Dr. also mentioned today that many of the kids that have these issues have to be put on preventative antibiotics their whole life so that an infection doesn't enter the kidney's and causing damage to them. Just soo much to think/worry about! On a more positive note... she is growing at the expected rate in all other areas - She currently weighs about 4 lbs. 2 oz. I was disappointed that they didn't do any 3-D pictures for me either... I was hoping to see how much she has changed over the last 2 months... The 3 pictures that I did get were NOT very good at all (not worth sharing or viewing - I may or may not get prints of them made, that is how BAD they are!

I will continue to pray for baby emily.

It is in her benefit they've picked up on this problem beforehand and will have a plan in place when she is born.

Hugs

Sorry it wasn't better news for Emily, but as Lisa said, having a plan in place is to her benefit.

Many hugs and lots of prayers for you and baby girl.
