Blindsided by PPD_NOS diagnosis

I've been such a permissive parent and accommodating parent that I didn't even realize difficult child was 'inflexible' - until now. Sigh.

Numina, if you're permissive already, then your difficult child will use his own inflexibility to turn it into self-discipline. All you need to do is be consistent and supportive, but stay in the driving seat as best as you can, at least to steer.

I also suggest you consider starting a new thread, because chances are you've now moved on from feeling so very much blind-sided, to dealing with his inflexibility.

What sort of problems are you finding? How are you handling it? Have you found anything that is a disaster? Or anything which seems to help? Sometimes kicking ideas and issues around with us can help find some answers.

When dealing with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) kids, we need to learn to think laterally. The more lateral thinkers you can bring in, the better your chance of coming up with a useful idea.
