The moose was a baby "only" 900 lbs. We hit it on the Maine Turnpike, going 65m/hr. It flipped over our 4-Runner. Looked like the hand of God had come down and punched our truck, the front was rearranged into an accordion. The state trooper said to me "he's yours, lady, you can have him for the meat"! He ended up feeding the population of one of the prisons.
That Toyota was so tough that we had it repaired and drove it 'till the body rusted out. From that day on, we called it Mongo in honor of the brutish character in Blazing Saddles.

I almost hit an elk, but no moose! Yikes. I've hit more deer than I care to count, tho. My cars, for some reason, have largely been white, and they call me the Great White Hunter (hunting with my car).

3S- I very nearly hit a moose on the Kancamagus in Western NH while driving my little cavalier. I pulled over to steady my nerves and my friend told me to hit the gas... I had apparently angered the moose and he (she?) was coming our way! :wildone:
