[QUOTE="buddy, post: 479405, member: 12886"] These handouts were meant to give school related accomodations, ideas for student struggling with these diagnosis. Obviously they are not individualized, but it is nice to have a teacher be able to look at a simple handout and see that the student is not trying to make their life miserable, smile. It is part of their diagnosis and they need support. (of course kids all have their typical frustrating or naughty moments, that is not the kind of choice making behavior I am talking about, tee hee) These handouts were from a link from our doctor/hospital group.... I dont mind anyone knowing because it is a large medical group and a huge metropolitan area. We are connected so much and are such open books at our house anyway....I am not wreckless with our privacy, just felt it was worth it..... these could be really helpful to teachers, therapists (like Occupational Therapist (OT), Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), etc...) and newbies to the process of diagnosis. I like resources that are parent friendly and give a little more balanced view, not all doom and gloom diagnosis. stuff that often is found on the web. Of course, many of these are simplified and certainly do not reflect some situations which are on a spectrum of the diagnosis..... Lots of our kids have behaviors that sort of relate to many of these things, but that may not mean they have the classic forms of these issues. Still, the ideas for how a teacher and school can help the student could be helpful. I cross posted these in the watercooler...
