Here, at least, you can usually get much better deals on prices than the companies usually used by the insurance.

I had a window of a car busted out when it was parked on the street once, and the mobile glass co. that the insurance uses was going to charge $800 (I had a $500 deductible, too). I took the $300 check from the insurance company and found a mobile glass company that charged only $300. Same warranty.

Recently, someone backed up and dented my front bumper. We just took the cash and haven't gotten it fixed yet. May not.

They will give me the valuation of it being a total loss and they take the car as salvage orI keep the car and buy it back from them. I did have a damaged bumper that I had not had fixed yet. I just ordered the new bumper 2 days before the storm. All of this malarkey is giving me a headache. I still consider myself blessed. This same storm caused flooding in Houston with multiple deaths.
