evaluation was today

They called it a "CATS" team - Child Assessment Team. It consisted of a language specialist, an Occupational Therapist (OT), a neuropsyche who did a....escapes me now - basically test for autism, and an iq/cognitive test. This time they didn't quit.

I guess I just don't have a strong gut feeling that anything different is going to come out of it, but I could be wrong. Results in 3 weeks.

They have not yet talked to the mental health side of the team.

I don't have a good feeling about it, but we'll see in 3 weeks. Probably just another grand down the drain, but regardless, will be another stepping stone in the road.

Sorry that I haven't kept up that much on youor situation, but was complete neuropsychologist testing supposed to have been done? If so, I don't don't think that was time to do it all. That doesn't mean that whatever tests were done are invaluable, just maybe more need to be done to be thorough. in my humble opinion.

At least something is getting accomplished- maybe the team felt like they had it honed in enough to only need certain tests. Did the school provide them or did you arrange this privately?

I don't think there's any way this was a "complete" neuropsyche evaluation. This was set up privately.

difficult child's mental health doctors are still seeing autism spectrum disorders. Both, in fact, have diagnosed him with such. They requested social skills and language therapy thru the autism center. The developmental pediatrician, in response to that request, set up this evaluation.

I guess in a nutshell I'm not very happy. in my humble opinion, the behavior therapist working with him has spent more time with him than anyone else in this entire group of people and her opinion and recommendation is being repeatedly shot down.

We'll see what comes of this.

Shari,

Before their "evaluation" gets to you - I would compose a letter and ask exactly and specifically for them to OUTLINE what you get for a grand.

That way you can see ahead of time if your evaluation. is missing any elements.

Hugs
Maybe they've gotten faster in years? (looking for a lining here) uff...
