Happy Thursday!
The weekend is almost here! We are having a "Fall Fun" day with our 4th and 5th graders today Should be a lot of fun!

Today after work husband and I are going to the health club and then home! Tomorrow after work difficult child is going to be hanging out with a friend and her son (he is 21 or so) and difficult child adores him. easy child/difficult child is staying home and husband and I are headed to meet his sisters and some of his nieces halfway between here and there-we're going to a casino-(it's for one sister's birthday). One night at a hotel and we'll be back sometime on Sat.

Good all. Sharon, sounds like a delightful weekend. Hope difficult child does well and your daughter too.

I woke up to dark, thunderstorms. I would have loved to roll over and go back to sleep but it doesn't quite work that way. LOL.
Our state fair starts today. Maybe we will give that a visit. I don't believe I have been to NC state fair.

Good Morning!

I've been at my desk at work for about 40 minutes and decided to hop on and see if anyone started our morning post!

Sharon, sounds like a nice weekend you have planned. Older guys are a great mentoring opportunity for our difficult children. I do that as often as I can for difficult child!

Rabbit, wishing you a great day as well.

Fran, they kept saying we were going to get rain but I woke up to dry. Then, difficult child and I were getting ready to leave for school around 6:50 and I thought I would run the dog out one more time since I was going to be gone all day. As soon as I opened the back door and stepped out a huge bolt of lightening lit up the sky followed by a huge thunder clap and then the sky immediately opened up to pouring rain. Needless to say, both the dog and I decided to return inside! The weekend should be lovely for the fair!

As I said, I'm at work all day today then it's family pizza/movie night! easy child is coming over round 6 and the three of us will choose a movie and make homemade pizza. She finishes her last midterm this morning but has a couple of psychiatric research projects and one survey type ones starts this afternoon at 3 and runs about 90 minutes. They have to participate in these research programs for a total of 6 credits this semester. She chose two really interesting ones that run a couple weeks and total her credit needs. One is on young womens' perceptioins of their bodies and psychiatric students will be doing face to face conversations, internet chats, and questionaires. They are trained on how to do the research then they work with these projects that are run by grad students. I miss school.....

difficult child has no school tomorrow so it's like Friday for us. He got up quickly as he always relishes the last day of the school week (so do I).

G'day, folks. I'm late tonight because we've been to mother in law's for dinner (roast chicken) and then came home to pack. We're only away for four days (three nights) but it also includes a wedding, so we're packing our finery. Plus resort gear, this place is a famous tourist spot in Australia.

We're also struggling a bit with difficult child 3 and his increasing obsession with certain computer games which have a lot of swearing - these are US-based, and what is often considered acceptable in the US is not, here. So I insisted the volume be turned down, since this house is my space too and if I find it offensive, then it has to be shut down. I think I have to bring this up with difficult child 3's therapist.

Today I took easy child 2/difficult child 2 to her therapist. We made her next appointment for next Friday, although difficult child 3 also has his therapist appointment on the same day. Then just after I got her home, the hospital rang - she is having her day surgery next Friday. So that looks like two therapist appointments I have to cancel.

We leave tomorrow at 9 am. husband is dropping me at the station, I'm going to my optometrist appointment by train, then travelling back. Meanwhile husband is going to collect easy child 2/difficult child 2 and their luggage and then I'll head back to meet up with them while we all wait for SIL2 to finish his college class at midday. That is when we hit the road. Tonight's roast chicken is tomorrow's lunch along with fresh vegetables bought by easy child 2/difficult child 2. We'll hopefully get out of Sydney as fast as possible, well before afternoon peak hour begins at 3 pm. That will need us to really get going fast, Sydney is spread out. We'll head across the city via the Coathanger (Sydney Harbour Bridge) because it is actually the shortest and fastest way. Once we reach the outskirts of Sydney to the north, it will be at least another four hours driving from there. But if we can be fast enough, we'll be ahead of the traffic, surfing the crest of the wave and having an easy run.

We'll be thinking of you as we kick back at the report sipping pina coladas by the pool, and eating fresh seafood and tropical fruit.

Rabbit, I'm glad you're getting flu shots today. We got ours a few weeks ago.

Fran, Hope the thunderstorms end quickly and you make it to the state fair. I love fall fairs!

Sharon (LDM), A movie and home made pizza is a perfect way to spend the evening - Enjoy!

Marg, The resort sounds absolutely wonderful!!! Seafood, fresh fruit, pina coladas... ENJOY!!! I can almost imagine sitting around the pool... I need to stop daydreaming and get back to reality, lol...

I've got to take that last sip of coffee and head out the door. I have a PT appointment soon.
