Makes sense to me to be cautious and not "take things for granted" but you sound like you are able at the same time to be open to the possibility that he is growing and to having some measure of hope. Sounds so balanced and well thought out.. I am sure it took a long process to get to that level of functioning.... holy heck it is impressive.
 
Wow!! What a change when you met your difficult child yesterday from his usual behavior! You were probably shocked that he even wanted to acknowledge that you existed, especially to his friends! I sincerely hope that this is the start of many positive changes for your son. HUGS...

Wow what a change. I agree you should enjoy it because even if it doesn't last you know he has it in him and it's so wonderful to see that person come out again. Those are the kind of days I would like to bottle up and sit on my counter for release on the not so good days.
