Our older dog was in the other room doing this bark/howl thing he does when he either wants out or wants your food. He was doing this about every 20 seconds for a few minutes. husband and difficult child are just sitting there in front of the tv. I finally get up to do something and husband says "I tried to let him out...he won't go"

Uh huh.

I asked him if he wanted to go out and walked to the back door. He went right out.

Now they can all just sit around on their rumps and enjoy themselves!!!
