Happy Hump Day

On Wednesdays, two ladies work with most of the kids by doing a social skills class. I am the designated aide for that class, and it's rather fun.

My oak-leaved hydrangeas are beginning to bloom as are the orange daylilies. The yard changes from the blues and purples of spring to the orange and white explosion of early summer. My artist friend who used to live across the street in the now treeless yard, used to love my yard this time of year. She did a wonderful painting of magnolia blossoms.

The two year old next door threw the ball for Bingo as I was shoving the old man lawnmower ineffectively through the backyard hay. She kept saying, "Again! Again!" like the Telletubbies. It's fun to watch Bingo dash through the yard jungle to find a lost ball.

Oh, this is beautiful imagery, pigless.

We had temps nearing eighty last Friday I think it was, and then, temps fell into the forties. There is no breeze this morning, and a mist rising over the water.

Birdsong.

Very pretty morning for us.

I wish I could see your hydrangeas, pigless. Our lilies will not come into bloom for another month. Daffodils have just finished, here. One especially beautiful variety of tulip is still in bloom. They are palest yellow, and ride very long stems. Our lilacs are just now coming into bloom. It is interesting to hear about the weather and about which plants are in bloom (or which berries, as in Lil and Jabber's post yesterday) in all the different places we live. We can see the warming Earth as the seasons change through our stories of our gardens.

Remember when we were little kids in school, and they would try to teach us about the sun and the angle of the Earth and why Seasons existed?

This discussion of berries and flowers is like that, for me.

:O)

Good morning!

I'm working today - first grade - and it's supposed to be 102. I hope the classroom a/c is working well.

Got the results of my neck x-ray yesterday. Doctor says it's arthritis. Between my neck and my back, I'm running about a 5 today, but I'll keep the pain lines off my face as best I can, and sit down when I have the opportunity.

Turned in the Buddhism final yesterday. Islam starts today.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday!

Hello all. I'd say "Good Morning" but I'm tired and grumpy and just don't feel well. I almost called in sick, then came in to find extra work on my desk because another coworker called in sick. He does it all the time! I can't remember the last time I called in sick. I've missed because of the dog, or because of my kid, but not sick (though I'm sure I have).

So yeah. I'm grumpy.

I have not been sleeping. When I had my physical last week the doctor suggested she prescribe me a sleep aid. I refused. She then suggested melatonin. I gave that to Difficult Child for a while, he said it helped, so I guess I need to get some. I just never remember. :( But I have trouble falling asleep. I have trouble staying asleep too. I ache - my hips, shoulders, back. I would think it's the mattress, but it's a practically new Serta i-Comfort, basically memory foam, and really comfy.

I wish I was there now. :bloodshot:

Try sleeping in an oversized recliner - it works like a hospital bed, allowing you to sleep without pressure points. It's been my life-saver for years when I can't sleep.

That would require us to buy an oversize recliner. Three problems. #1, No place to put it. #2, I think they're ugly. #3, no money to buy one even if I ignore 1 & 2. lol

Bah, humbug.

What's the matter with you?

Of course, Jabber. If she doesn't sleep well, then she is restless and it affects your sleep too.

This matter of "getting older" isn't for sissies.

I am trying to find a gastro intestinal specialist that is covered by my ins. that can see me in less than 3 months.

Can your regular doctor refer you? That seems to be the fastest way to see a specialist, at least that I've found.

He did. The ones covered by my ins. are 3 months or more out. I called my dr. back to see if he could get one sooner than that.

Maybe his office can actually make the appointment. That generally is faster than a patient trying to do it.

I hope so. I am miserable. I have a hiatal hernia on top digestive issues due to diabetes. I am pretty tired of liquids, but it beats being in pain and not being able to keep food down.

It could be the mattress. I had to return a Tempur-Pedic mattress a few years ago during the 90 day trial period. Slept well on it for about a month and then my back started seizing up in the mornings when I woke up.

The memory foam mattresses do shape to your body, but they have no real resiliency and basically just become "harder" under the parts of you that weigh more.

100% better than I was but not at 100% yet
I think recliners are ugly too. My husband has a brown one. I call it his chair-bed. Once he's in that thing he can't get up to do anything and usually ends up snoring when I'm trying to watch a show. I wish it would break.

Lil I called in sick Tuesday. I called it my "mental health day". I just needed it. I felt a little guilty but pushed it out of my head. I only called in one other time this year and other people take off all the time because their children are sick.

My husband played hookey too and we spent the day in the city (Chicago) and we had a great time walking around and taking the free Navy Pier shuttle. We rode on the big new Ferris wheel on Navy Pier. We sat with 6 other people in our car which I wasn't happy about, especially when I saw others that had 2 in their car! I should have said something. It wasn't busy and I'm sure we could have done that.

I was so afraid something weird in the city would happen and I'd end up on the news or something and my coworkers would see me!
