I feel like I've been in isolation forever. I think it will take a week or more to catch up on everything.

I think Grandma aged me by 10 years. And at the same time, Mom looked 10 years younger when she got home last night.

The first part of the sitting time was good. husband and I decided that we would do whatever Grandma wanted to do. And of course, she wanted to go to the Casino....everyday....for hours and hours and hours. She was happy and she was having fun. She was making all sorts of friends. But that all came to an end Sunday night. Grandma came down with a bad case of Shingles - on her face.

A sick Grandma is a very mean Grandma. She was in pain, she didn't like the pain medications so she refused them. She was nasty to the eye doctor. We needed to make sure the shingles weren't in her only good eye. She gave him a really hard time. And the doctor smiled through it all. At least she answered his questions. She refused to talk to the ER doctor!

Well, at least my time is done. Mom and Dad are home and can now take care of Grandma.

So, I'm off to see how many posts I can read between catching up at work.

Welcome back. I am so sorry Grandma is suffering. Things just don't seem to pan out the way we plan but life is easier when we learn to "go with the flow". Time for decompressing for you and husband.

Hi. I'm new and just wanted to say hi and glad you are back. Hope your life can settle back into regular difficult child normal. whatever the heck that is.

ps I read you name and just laughed....mom to odd son I know it is O D D but I read it as odd. (unless you have an odd sense of humor as I do, smile)-- wish I would have thought of it, could have been my name for sure.

Welcome back :)

I'm certain your parents appreciated the, most likely, much needed break. Caring for an elderly family member is not the easiest job in the world even when they're perfectly easy child and sweet as pie 99.9 percent of the time. When they turn difficult child on you, it can go to hades fast. Then it's just high stress until they switch out of difficult child mode again.
