HElp!!! computer problem

i have hit some button on my computer thar requires me to hold down the function button in order to type. any ideas

Which one is the Function button? Mine did something like that once when one of the dogs put her paw on the keyboard of my laptop. I had no idea what she had stepped on so I didn't know what to do to undo it. I shut it down that night and when I turned it on the next morning, somehow it had righted itself.

Thank goodness for my computer savvy son!! It took about a half hour on the phone, but he finally figured it out. Only the right hand side of my keyboard was messed up. What fixed it was holding down the Shift key at the same time as the NumLK key. Who would ever figure that out???

I was panicking as this is my host's laptop. He's VERY picky about it and I didn't want to screw it up. Good thing he was gone!
