3Shadows: "Well, Jane, it just goes to show you, it's always something."
Yup. Story of my life. I just pray it's not my kid in the headlines some day... well, at least not for THAT kind of thing.
The fires are still going strong. They don't predict full containment for two more weeks. Last I heard the area burned was larger than Chicago. It's probably bigger now, and will end up somewhere the size of, oh, Houston, TX if I had to guess. It's now thought to have had a human cause, but there's no word whether it was accidental or arson. What's tough is that much of the areas burning have not seen fire in 60-100 years. It's way overdue. Most of the native plants here rely on periodic fires for their seeds to germinate anyway.
klmno -- and how did a sheriff's officer go to the door to follow up on a neighbor's complaint about strange activity at that house, and NOT see the tents and other stuff in the backyard???!!!
Somebody's head should roll for that.
