Home from the hospital.....

Queen of Hearts
Just for giggles I decided to spend the last 5 days in the hospital. Not!

I ended up in ER last Thursday night due to confusion, weakness & other such things. Turns out I was extremely dehydrated, low heart rate & low BiPolar (BP). I was put on various & sundry medications to fight the side effects of prednisone ~ needless to say as I'm titrating off the prednisone I don't need quite as much of those medications. Or any of them at all. AND having so many specialists in the mix meant no one was watching this.

I'm home now, rehydrated - weak but rehydrated with a normal pulse & much higher BiPolar (BP) than I went in with (110/70 I went in at 85/40).

A very very dear friend arranged for Sally to be picked up & taken to the kennel. Mental health case manager found an emergency bed for kt in less than 12 hours (amazing, really amazing) ~ kt spent the first night in the hospital with me. kt is coming home in a couple of hours, Sally should be delivered home as well (thanks Sue for your help).

Now is the time to make an emergency plan. I don't have family I can count on in this town for help in an emergency. My service providers all pulled together to get kt in a safe placement but if there is a long term need I'm out of luck.

I came home & there was a home health nurse waiting for me this morning. I'm to have PT, Occupational Therapist (OT), HHA & whatever else my insurance will pay for until my strength builds back to base line.

I spent the last 5 days resting, rehydrating, crying & sketching. I had a neuropysch evaluation done while I was there. Again, just for giggles.

Life is good. I'm home & a snow storm is about to hit.

Yikes. I'm glad you're ok, tho.

Nothing like a little scare to put a push on that plan. Wow. Wish I were closer, I'd offer to help! Hugs and prayers for a break for you. You need one, but that wasn't the kind I had in mind.

Glad things fell into place even if there wasn't a plan. Very glad you're home again and medications are straightened out. That's the problem with too many specialists.

I am glad you are back home. It is good to know that KT was taken care of. I think that is why I felt so vulnerable when Diva and difficult child were babies. husband was on the road a lot and there really wasn't anyone in town I could call on to help. When I was on one week bed rest with the strictest of orders to stay in bed, I tried calling Public Health to help care for 6 year old Diva and my new born difficult child. They refused! "This is the time for you to call on friends and family." "Duh, if I had anyone to call on don't you think I would? I don't care how much you charge, I need help." We ended up struggling through the week until husband was able to get home.

Here we go again!
What, no postcard from your little vacation?!

Seriously, I'm glad you're okay now and getting ready to put an emergency plan in place. It really is important considering how few people you have around you to fall back on should something like this happen again.

Hope your current crew of support folks get you feeling good and back in the saddle quickly. Maybe the snow storm is God's way of forcing you to FULLY recuperate and get your strength back!

(((Hugs!)))

Linda,

I am so very glad that you are back home. The hospital is not a restful environment!

Linda,

I am so sorry you were sick. It is no fun, and especially scary now that you don't have husband for backup. I wish I were close enough to help.

I am glad you are getting in home services to help you recover. I bet the Case Manager and other people will be more than willing to help you with the emergency plan.

I hope this doesn't push kt and wm too far back. It must be especially scary for kt. I am glad she was able to see you in the hospital and hear from the docs that you would be OK.

Are you keeping a journal of all the symptoms you have? Maybe you should. It might be a good idea to write your blood pressure down in the journal every day, just to keep on top of it?

I am SO glad you are better now. I was worried because you were not around on the board.

Gentle hugs to all of you,

Susie

Linda, I noticed that you hadn't posted in a few days and I was hoping that you hadn't been sick or something. I hope they have your medications straightened out now and that things will be better. Take care of yourself.

Linda,
Don't know how I missed this last night. I'm so glad you are home and o.k. I've done the dehydration thing too often-not a lot of fun. I do so wish I lived closer so I could be of some help with things. Please take care of you. As always, continued prayers.
