House rules and consequences for teens

Hon, I would NOT ground her to inside the house. I would ground her to being with the parent. You go on and do what you need to do. If she is stuck pushing the cart through the grocery store, so be it. If she has to sit in a chair while you get your hair done, too bad. If she is in a waiting room while you're at your doctor's office, that's reality. If she is mowing the yard while you weed the flowers, it's good exercise. If she is cleaning the garage to have something to do while you are soaking up ten minutes worth of lounge chair time, it works for me. If she is washing the dishes while you dry, that's cool. If she has to go with you while you take your aerobics walk with the dog, Great!

And when she gets back, she can help dad wash the car, change the oil, trim the hedges, de-gunk the driveway, whatever!

Oh, I do believe that parents should be able to live, even though they are parents!
