Check into a court designated worker and see if they have an unruly child program. Basically you as a parent go in and fill out paperwork stating what the issues are and what rules you would like followed. The CDW takes this to a judge and has them approve the child to be in the program. Once they are the CDW tells them how life is going to be and what the consequences are for offenses. If at anytime the child breaks the contract the parent/school calls the CDW and the difficult child gets a punishment. It can be as simple as volunteering to rake a yard or as bad as them being removed from the home. It all depends upon the offense and the severity of it or the number of offenses. From what was explained to me it doesn't go into their records like juvie does unless they get to the point where they are going to juvie. Having said that I can see that most of what seems to be going on is mental health related. The CDW can help you mandate their attendance in counseling. The best part is you don't have to do all the punishing they CDW handles it. One thing you should keep in mind is that they don't put kids or adults for that matter into a psychiatric hospital simply because they wont mind and are unruly. They generally have to be a danger to themselves or others. I would stop threatening the kids with that because it just gives them something to prove you don't follow through. You can take them to the doctor the ER or wherever but they will not put them in the psychiatric hospital at your request if they can't find a truly significant reason. They would be more likely to pull them from you and put them in a respite situation so you could get some releif. Actually those of us who have dealt with mental health for years would place bets on them calming you down and sending them right back home with you.
