but we all have a little crazy in us, you just decided to share it with us, lol Braided rugs are easy to make. You can even get a little gadget to help fold the strips so they braid fairly evenly. It is just a thin strip of metal that folds it so the raw edges are folded in toward the center.
When I was homeschooling Wiz we did a unit on pioneer life and we worked together to make a braided coaster for my mother. She has a real coaster fetish. You do NOT put a drink down anywhere outside the kitchen in her home with-o a coaster. EVER. I started it and then helped sew it into place once it was braided and coiled. To this day it is her favorite coaster and I am working on making more iwth J and T this summer for her birthday and xmas gifts. The braided cloth coaster absorbs condensation so it doesn't hurt the furniture and it dries out easily between uses. I think it took maybe 90 min to make.
