I came across a box of old stuff tonight, including an old journal with quotes I found helpful for dealing with d.c. These are some of my favorites. Sorry I don't have the authors for some of them.

"Let go of the cactus."

"Deal with it now or deal with it later."

"No amount of guilt can change the past.
No amount of worry can change the future."

"No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit." - Helen Keller

"Please pass me that parenting handbook. I need to smack my kid with it."

"We can't keep rejecting solutions because they require us to change."

"If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing itself stupid." - Albert Einstein

"If you bring forth that which is within you,
then that which is within you will be your salvation.
If you do not bring forth that which is within you,
then that which is within you will destroy you." - Gnostic Gospels

"What you resist, persists."

"You didn't cause it. You can't control it. You can't cure it." - Al-Anon

"There is only the trying. The rest is not our business."

"You can gaze out the window getting mad, getting madder.
Throw your hands in the air and scream, 'What does it matter?'
But it don't do no good to get angry.
So help me, I know.
For a heart steeped in anger grows weak and grows bitter.
You become your own prisoner as you watch yourself sit there
Wrapped up in a trap of your very own chain of sorrows." - John Prine

"So ring the bell that you can ring.
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack in everything.
That's how the light gets in." - Leonard Cohen

"And even though it all went wrong,
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue
but 'Hallelujah." - Leonard Cohen
