Might get to see the Bolshoi ballet next week...

Here we go again!
My mom's cousin is involved with a travel group that works with performers of all kinds. I don't know what his exact title is, but he often personally escorts the star talent of a group, whether it be a dance troupe, an orchestra or symphony, a singer, soloist (he's met the likes of Yoyo Ma, Itzhak Perlman) -- you get the idea.

He's travelled all over the world and met many amazing people.

This year he is coming to our area again (he was here two years ago with another dance group) and this time it is with the Bolshoi ballet! :princess:

They are performing Don Quixote :warrior: , and mom's cousin warned her last summer that she and I should plan to keep our calendar free next week so we could come be his guests at one of the performances!

I'm waiting to hear we are still on, but excited nonetheless.

You will love it. Jana was lucky enough to dance The Nutcracker with a Russian ballet company when she was younger. She also danced with all the local companies, but the Russian dancers were magnificent.

Oh that's excellent!! I was fortunate to see my only opera in Moscow at the actual theater- and I saw Mikhail Baryshinkov dance here in the states but it was after he was able to do his best ballet- still, it was astounding. This will be an experience you never forget!!

I'm so excited for you.....

EW, how exciting for J to be able to dance with this company. Very cool.

(Get the feeling I'm drooling a bit at the thought of seeing The Bolshoi ballet? )

husband and i saw them in Frankfurt, West Germany years back. It was a performance of 'Swan Lake'. I got tix as a special gift for husband as he'd been so into dance as a young man before he went into the Army.

They were fabulous, and even though we didn't have great seats; we enjoyed the performance tremendously.

I hope you get to go. You will love it.

Thanks everyone!

My mom heard from her cousin and we're on! He wants us to pick whichever performance next week and he'll check ticket avaiability -- weekends are usually harder to get, so we'll see if our Saturday evening preference is available... if not and it has to be a weeknight, no biggy -- husband will just try to get home early.

I'm so excited!!!
