An acquaintance shared with me yesterday that his sister puts a $1 scratchoff lottery ticket on the napkin at each place for Thanksgiving dinner. Family members can choose when to scratch off to see if they have a bonus reason to be thankful. For five years at least two of the tickets have been winners (a few bucks) and everyone enjoys the pleasure. I think that's a neat idea. Simple. Cheap. Fun. DDD
