This is what they put difficult child on to help prevent cutting- it is supposed to block endorphine release. Anyway, it might take care of physical cravings, but what about the psychological aspect of addiction? I can see this as an aid, but not the entire treatment program or a "cure". When I read up on it after they put difficult child on it, I found that it has been used in other countries for a while to aid with physical cravings for drugs. Apparently it does work for that and it did help difficult child with cutting desires- placebo effect or not. Any assistance with overcoming addiction is helpful though, huh?

I thought at first it was some modern-day Annabuse. But it seems to have pretty good track record with alcoholics.

I agree about the psychological over physiological...interesting thought.

Believe it or not, it is also being studied for use in Crohn's disease at low doses. May have something to do with the brain/gut connection.
