New differently sized barbies (the doll)

There is a barbie now who has a rounded buttocks (to put it delicately), a barbie with bigger melons on her chest and a short barbie, as well as multicultural barbies. They are not barbie's friends either. They are all named barbie. I think its a great idea. I wonder if there will soon be a "husky" ken or a short ken or a ken with a chipped tooth. Boys have "good looks" issues now too!

I never liked Barbies, either. I did like GI Joes, because they were more pose-able and always wondered, since women served in the military, why there weren't female dolls in that line.

But, I don't ever remember thinking that any of the dolls available when I was of that age were representations of reality.

Peers are by far the greater influence on our kids than any time in history, for better or worse.

Just the other day my daughter saw one of those anti-bullying PSAs and asked me "does bullying actually happen in real life?"

I told her yes, and she said, "wow, I thought it just happened on TV."

I am so thankful that I can homeschool.
