New Idol judge needed

OK, this is in Australia - Kyle Sandilands got sumped as Idol judge (after recent nasty events on his radio show which has also been dropped) but I hear Paula Abdul quit, so the US show will also be looking for a new judge.

Which made me think - what is the process for choosing a new Idol judge? Do they have queues of prospective judges strtching round the block? Do they have to appear in front of a panel (and who/what is on the panel?) to demonstrate just how nasty they can be? Or how stereotypical they can be? Is there someone sitting behiind the desk ridiculingthem as they do this?
"Come on - you call THAT nasty? That's weak and pathetic. NEXT!"

Just an IDOL thought...

It would seem having some background in music or the music business would be good.
I like the idea of a panel who doesn't sugar coat the truth.
Maybe a group of contestants could interview the judge to be.
