Phew/Whew The "Event" Is Over...

Thanks to those of you who provided ideas...particularly for the
Sand Sculpture Contest. The weather held off until the last canoe had finished the race, the live radio broadcast went very
well (I got a kick out of hearing husband and others talking in between songs on the store radio).

The "Pig Out" baskets were big hits. The canoe shaped and paddle
shaped trophies looked good. The 4H sold enough hamburgers and
hot dogs to give our host organization over $100.

I am doing NOTHING until at least tomorrow afternoon. Well...I
will do one thing... The final tally isn't in but
it looks like maybe four grand was earned! Wahoo and Thanks one
more time for the support! DDD

PS: husband was well enough to stay there and participate from 7 til
2. That's a blessing, too.

Glad it was a success and even happier to hear husband felt well enough to be there so long.

Enjoy the rest. You've earned it!!!!

Congratulations!!! You worked hard, picking up the ball when others couldn't handle things.

Glad husband was well enough to enjoy it.

4 grand is amazing, especially for a first year. Be sure you write everything down that worked, and didn't, so you have it for next year. If you spend some time next week or next weekend making sure your contacts are all listed, details are written down, and maybe get husband to write up what will go smoother/easier next time, then you can put it all into a file folder or big envelope and forget it until next year or until you pass the torch!

been there done that on many events, the only ones that went easier the next year were ones with lists/write-ups from previous year(s).

Maybe we can all come next year?

CDBoard Get-Together at your fundraiser???

Could be fun!

Dumb question~~

What is the significance of phew/whew?

I have seen it enough times on the board to think that it is a "thing".

Why not just phew or just whew?

Does phew's feelings get hurt if you just whew?

Is whew in a contract where it deserves equal time with phew?

Wink Martindale used to do a game show called "Whew". Does that have anything to do with it?

Discuss.

Thank you (yes, I am bowing to the applause) (of course, I am
dressed in an old faded soft flannel nightgown so am thankful
this is cyberspace with no flashing cameras!)

There is an "after meeting" planned for the group to critique
the event in November. The artwork for signs etc. is safely on
the computer disc. My letters (begging thru thank yous) are
stuck in a notebook with plastic covers. The photos will be
added. There is a list I kept as I went along of all the calls
(with names and numbers, of course) I made and whether they did
or didn't give. :faint: Phew/Whew! Next year should be a piece of cake.

One clever choice that somehow came in a "brain flash"...we did
NOT put the year on the promotional stuff. We had visors made
and tees etc....and they can be used next year to avoid waste.
Wahoo!

Now, I'll stop bowing and enjoy my cuppa of HMJ! Thanks. DDD

BBK.....once upon a time...

...a member who used to post often....Addie...and I.... had a debate:

how do you spell phew,

as in *relief* :whew:,

not PU :bag:.

I spell it "phew" and she spelled it "whew".

It was a standoff between the two of us, both fighting that we were correct. So we opened it up to the membership and asked this very significant(!) question in Watercooler.

Tons of people posted and answered the question.

And it was slightly more "phew" than "whew."

Addie graciously acknowledged that "phew" won but I started connecting the two so we'd both appear as winners  .....and so others, not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings also connect the two.....and so board-history was born.

The End.
