The National institute of Health contacted me today. They want to include difficult child in their study! As you all might remember I had this all set up before difficult child went to prison and then had to cancel it. When difficult child got out I asked him if he still wanted to do it and he said that he did because it would help other people. (difficult child has a rare genetic disorder). I then contacted NIH again and held my breath afraid that they would no longer be interested due to difficult child's misdeeds etc. I didn't hear from them right away and thought that they had decided against bringing difficult child in. Then today while I was traveling home from our cottage, they called. I pulled off the highway and talked to the intake person for an several minutes. She asked me if I was still interested. answer = YES!!!!! I am in the process of getting things set up. I have to clear the dates with his caseworker and PO once I get them from NIH. Rhe tests will take a couple of days so I will need a travel pass from his PO. PLEASE pray, think good thoughts, cross your fingers and send any othe possible positive vibes you can send for difficult child so that he can stay out of trouble long enough for us to get this testing done. NIH will do brain scans, genetic counseling, psyciatric evaluations etc. This should help us get a better handle on what to expect from difficult child and also help with getting PO's demands on him in line with his abilities. We might also be able to get him on the right combo of medicines so he can be a productive part of the human population. ( hope does spring eternal) Since the tests are for NIH's ongoing genetic studies, all expenses will be covered by them. -RM
