Healing, good pain control, sleep and attentive care from her medical team are badly needed for my 50 yo sister C. She is in the hospital with bacterimia (blood infection). Infection from at least 3 different organisms - gram positive, gram negative and yeast - have her very, very sick. 4 abx running daily. Last night they lost 4 different IV sites and she has to have 2 running all the time. If they lose another site they will have to place IV's in her feet. She didn't sleep last night because of the IV problems. They had to remove her port-a-cath so she is receiving limited nutritional support since they can't run TPN (IV nutrition) through a regular IV line. Healing, cautious doctors and discernment are needed for difficult child#1 and wife. difficult child#1 is in the hospital with a broken jaw, broken leg and a "spot on his lung" that they think is pneumonia. wife went today to stay at least 2 days and see him through surgery on his jaw today. Doctors told her they need to conference with her about "further surgery" - that's all we know right now. Any surgery on him is dangerous and there is exactly one specialist in the entire Bay Area who has the knowledge and training to advise his treatment team and/or do surgery. As far as we know, specialist has not been consulted yet. :( Stability for me, strength as I cope with being "home alone" with the kids and better physical health. My BiPolar (BP) sx have improved but are still very difficult to manage at times. Mucho physical anxiety, agitation, periods of bad depression. Xanax is not cutting it but it's what I have so my mantra has become "This too shall pass. Stay in the moment." daughter started school today. difficult child 2 is at home for another month and he is engaging in a running power struggle with us over every single little thing. And I had an echocardiogram today to rule out heart problems as the reason for a sudden 10# water weight gain that has left my legs more like sausages than legs. Peace and strength for my 86 yo mother and my youngest sister. They are packing the house my mom and dad built for their retirement - except he died first. Mom is moving closer to my youngest sister (finally) due to declining health. It's been a difficult experience for both of them. Patience and success for my father in law as he switches from 3x week dialysis to daily home dialysis. That's it for now. It could be so much worse and I am grateful that extended family has at least fair/good medical coverage. Thanks
