As the song says...Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day? Something I can never forget, nor should we.

Not forgotten here. I will hold all those lost (and those who lost a loved one) on that day forever in my heart. We lost some colleagues and my exh lost a cousin (he was a firefighter).

I've been in a rather somber mood since waking up.

    The feeling following those events...indescribable.

One of the last loving moments that I can remember with my EX. We watched, along with the rest of the world, as the 2nd plane hit. And the 3rd, and the 4th.

We picked up Tink (only 9 months old) and the 3 of us held eachother tight.

My heart is so very heavy today. Those who lost their lives and their loved ones will not be forgotten by this American.

My son said this morning that today should be a holiday. I don't think he was saying this out of selfishness either.

That morning I rushed home from work to get my babies and hold them tight. What a sad day for America.

I like that song too. I won't ever forget that day and those feelings.

I remember just that absolute shock and horror. I spent the morning on the phone with my foster daughter's mother because she needed to hear her daughter's voice and I needed to hear another person's voice. Then we spent the evening in ER because husband got meningitis and we watched the news stories over and over. The ER was packed with the regular assortment of illness and injuries and tons of extra heart-related problems. We were in the hallway next to a girl of about 21-22, her uncle worked at the towers, had gotten up to his office when he realized he forgot to pick up a newspaper, thought about skipping it, but decided to go back down and get it. He exited the building in time to see the plane crash into it. brother in law lost 5 close friends (he grew up near NYC).

This day will always be sad - too many lives lost, too many heros taken too soon.

Someone who worked at my facility lost her son that day. I had just started working here a week before, so I didn't really know her, but it touched many peoples lives here.

They are all in my thoughts!!

Today is Patriots Day. It's official.

I wear my WE WILL NEVER FORGET T shirt, and all my pins, red white and blue and will continue to keep the flame going tonight.

911 will live with us for the rest of our lives. It's the day we became like generations before us in knowing what it was like to not be as safe as we thought on our own soil.

    God Bless the USA

    I just saw this ...
I was at the car wash yesterday at 8:45. The ceremonies were on TV. I stood there and watched them ... don't know why I felt I had to stand ... sitting didn't seem respectful.
    So sad.

"Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)" by Alan Jackson

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
    In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue
The heroes who died just doing what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
    And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
    Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God

    American Girls and American Guys
We'll always stand up and salute
    We'll always recognize
When we see Ole Glory Flying
There's a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Till the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love
    Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flying in
    From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
    Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
    Like the 4th of July

    Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
    And the Statue of Liberty
    Started shaking her fist
    And the eagle will fly
    And there's gonna be hellz
    When you hear Mother Freedom
    Start ringing her bell
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue

    Justice will be served
    And the battle will rage
    This big dog will fight
    When you rattle his cage
And you'll be sorry that you messed with
    The U.S. of A.
'Cause we'll put a boot in your azz
    It's the American way

    Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
    And the Statue of Liberty
    Started shaking her fist
    And the eagle will fly
    And there's gonna be hellz
    When you hear Mother Freedom
    Start ringing her bell
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue

    Ohhh
Of the Red, White and Blue
    Ohhh Ohh Oh
Of My Red, White and Blue
