Roll With It
I ran across a mention of a drug called Selincro that is for the treatment of alcoholism and became available in the UK in May of this year. It is not like antabuse and does not make you sick if you drink. It works on the reward center in the brain and reduces the amount you drink. I have no clue how effective it is, but thought that some of you might be interested in it.

This is a link to the UK version of drugs.com 's page on Selincro: http://www.drugs.com/uk/selincro.html

I think there are already drugs like that here. I remember one of difficult child's addiction counselors talking about them. One kept you from feeling the high you usually get from alcohol so it lessons the desire for alcohol. There is a similar one for narcotics. The one for narcotics was a monthly shot. Both were extremely expensive and since difficult child didn't have insurance we didn't pursue it.

I wish I could remember the names.
