For me, the analogy between a broken leg and a mental/behavioural issue is not a perfect one. Basically because the broken leg is visible and unarguable. Unfortunately we none of us know exactly how much a child is being manipulative or truly cannot help themselves, etc. There is more ambiguity and more room for interpretation than with a physical disability.
