We were talking about Helen Reddy on the "obnoxious songs" thread, and I'm not a big fan. That being said, I am and always have been a HUGE fan of Julia Child. There was a woman who knew what she wanted and went for it in spite of it being absurd that she might ever accomplish it. Some of my favorite quotes by her: Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it. The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook. "The body is like a finely tuned machine. If you don't put in enough oil, it breaks down." Life itself is the proper binge. It's so beautifully arranged on the plate - you know someone's fingers have been all over it. "If you're afraid of butter, just use cream." What would she have done if she hadn't gone into cooking? "I would have married a Republican Banker and become an alcoholic." What a hoot! Who's going to see the new movie?
