[QUOTE="svengandhi, post: 289368, member: 3493"] My oldest son, who is Asperger's and is now almost 19, LOVED Thomas the Tank Engine. We bought all of the trains and a special bag with his name on it to hold them in. He played with them for hours on end from toddlerhood until age 7, when he discovered the Titanic and knew the passenger manifest by heart. NONE of his four younger siblings ever displayed more than a passing interest in poor Thomas or his friends. The complete set is at mother in law's house. None of my other kids is in any way on the spectrum. I completely agree that the Thomas characters can be used to teach emotional expressions and I plan to mention this to my daughter (who is volunteering with autistic kids this summer and plans to study sped in college).
