Now I've cared for endless toddlers over the years. But this is a first for me....... I've had toddlers pull my pots and pans out and make music or "cook". No surprise there. Aubrey does this on occasion, and even has a little red pan in the cabnet that is her very own to do so. That way I'm not looking all over the house for my pans. lol However, Aubrey has another thing she does that is one step up from this............ She "shops". Yup. I have a lazy susan where I keep my canned goods. Aubrey has been shopping in it since she was about 18 months old. She'll pull out cans and put them in her lil Tykes shopping cart or into a walmart bag. She also shops with other things around the house, but the lazy susan is her fav place. Doesn't bug me except when I have to search for something I wanted to cook. lol Well this morning I come down........and well, Nana is not sweetness and light until that first cup of coffee......Only my coffee is gone. I knew that while it was getting low, I hadn't used it all. So we search, with Nana grumbling. Finally give up and have husband run out and get some. A short while later......Nichole discovers the coffee we were looking for in her room. Aubrey had shopped it and was "cooking" with it. Now Nichole's room reeks of coffee. Nichole had Aubrey return the coffee to me and apologize. Her little "I'm sorrys" are so darn cute. And she always means it. I told her it was ok, and to keep to the canned goods. I never get mad at that sort of thing. My grandma let me "shop" in her cabnets for years. Sometimes she'd get in on the game and grab my play cash register and we'd empty out the food from the cabnets, set them on top and play grocery. lol Some of my fondest memories. But other than myself and Aubrey, I've yet to see another toddler do this. Oh, and by the way....Aubrey and Darrin had tons of play food, but somehow it's just not the same. lol
