From what I read in Feb 2009 the TV signals in the US will change.
I found a website (it is a .gov website) that will send you coupons for the converter box. These boxes will not be available until sometime in Feb or March and coupons will be mailed then. Coupons will be good for 90 days from then.
Each household can get up to 2 coupons worth $40 EACH. :
