This is my first time on this site. I have a 14 year old son that des not listen to me. He comes and goes as he pleaes, doesn't do any school work ,is in danger of failing school, Think he is sexually active. I'm so angry and depressed that I am not a good mom. Do you have any advice?

Welcome! We will need a bit more info. Where is dad in all this?

When did this start for your son? When did he become defiant?

When my daughter got that way, she was using drugs. Do you think that's possible? It's not your fault. These kids are really influenced by their peers.

You ARE a good mom! You're here, looking for help and answers. Just because you can't control him doesn't mean beans - he's his own person. And don't let any smarmy social workers or anyone else tell you it's YOUR fault, been there done that, and it's very, very common.

Drugs are one possibilty, so is temporary stupidity - on his part. Other issues may be at hand. My kid started his "stuff" - the really out-of-control stuff - just a few weeks before he turned 15, but looking back, we saw a LOT more symptoms and clues.

Keep your eyes open, and document, for starters.
