***************** I don't want to sound like an ungrateful so-and-so. I know that so many people are living in much more difficult situations than I am. I'm just having a little Trinity pity-party ***************** I keep hearing that we're seeing the early signs of economic recovery on the horizon. Well, I darn well hope so because I'm tired of floating the financial boat for the entire Trinity clan. I had surgery last Wednesday. Major surgery that usually calls for a 6-week recovery period. I'm in pain, and I'm tired. I could really use the time off. But I'm a contract worker, so I don't have any work-related benefits at all. By Thursday morning, I was checking e-mail remotely from the hospital. I worked at home from bed on Friday, and was back in the office starting Monday morning. I even worked the entire weekend before my surgery so that I could log the hours lost to hospital time. husband has been mostly out of work since 2005, with only the occasional short contract. My "maternity leave" took place only because my boss let husband fill in for me until I went back to work. (Honestly, I feel incredibly lucky that we're in the same line of work AND that I have such an understanding boss. But that was a one-off. I've been reassigned to a different project, and senior management wouldn't let that fly twice.) I've got some killer deadlines to achieve. I really should be getting on with my work, but instead I'm here, venting. Okay, switching off whine-and-complain mode. Back to work, me. Thanks for listening. Trinity
