thankfully our son is not mentally the same age as his chronolgical age. If he was the psychologist says we'd probably be really familiar with the police and justice system by now as he has a severe attachment disorder, just like we've thought the last 7 years. I am just so disgusted.

Well, at least now you have an idea of where to focus the help for him. There are several others here who have years of experience dealing with this particular disorder, and I'm sure they will gladly share their pearls of wisdom to help you in whatever way possible.
