My 8 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD/ODD two years ago. He takes Concerta which has for the most part worked really well for him. This past week has been a nightmare with him. He walked up to his older brother the other day (he was not provoked in any way) and just started punching him in the head! The next day he went up to his younger brother and just pushed him over. I caught him with a knife in his room and he said he was going to kill his little brother. I took it from him and of course hid all the knives in the house. Today he told me he was going to find them while I sleep and get to his younger brother and I wouldn't be able to stop him. Later this evening they were fighting about something and difficult child choked him so hard that it made him vomit!!! husband thinks he just needs his medications adjusted but I am thinking this has nothing to do with having ADHD and there is something more serious going on. Borderline (BPD) does run in my family and my gut just tells me that this isn't standard ADHD and ODD behavioral issues. ETA: I also wanted to say that he will fly into a rage now over the smallest little things. He's super rude which is new for him. He NEVER needs to sleep. It takes him forever to wind down at night (and this is AFTER he has Melatonin) and he frequently wakes up in the middle of the night and then he still gets up early for the day. I am exhausted.
