What is your internet speed?

My ISP is ATT. I ran an ATT internet speed test from this link: http://helpme.att.net/dsl/speedtest/ The speed test took me about 20 seconds to complete.

I am interested in hearing what speed levels others are getting with their provider; both cable connections and DSL.

A major cable internet provider in this area is Comcast. You can run a Comcast internet speed test from: http://speedtest.comcast.net/

You can also try http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

This is what my speed test results looked liked:
Your Throughput
Download = 4.994 Mbps
Upload = 658.00 kbps

Who is your provider, and what kind of speed test results are you getting?

How long does this test run anyway?? I was sitting on the ATT one forever, finally gave up. lol

Although I can say from personal experiance........both my uploading and downloading is super fast. (whatever speed that would be) Cuz I do both daily. And not small files either. :)

I have DSL light -
I had DSL ultra -

The difference in laymans terms?

DSL light - allows me to surf the internet, see movies like on U tube - and send the same. I can download music but it is s.l.o.w.

DSL ultra is like cable - VVVVVVVRRRRRRRRRROOOOOoooooooom

But keep a few things in mind - YOUR internet speed and your computer speed are two different things. If you have registry errors or problems in your computer - NO internet will make it faster.

Adding more Gigs to your hardrive can - or compressing your disc (not recommended) can - or getting a new computer can (order one for me too)

If your computer is slow - you need to take it into a shop and let a qualified person TWEEK it for about $35 and THEN add a registry repair program, defrag weekly and don't store large files like photos on your computer or music files - all that slows it down.

Really Star, LOL I thought mine was slower than chris's because the numbers were lower.

by the way I loved your geek wannabee explanation. I'm coming to you with my computer questions.
