Otto-- (((hugs))) I wish I had some words of wisdom...or that there was something I could say to make it better. I am trying to accept that mental health is a "process"...and not something that can be fixed. As far as the attachment disorder - that label has been considered for my child, too. And we don't have any of the "red flags" for parental neglect either. I am beginning to think that brains that are wired differently (whether due to autism or damage or chemical imbalances or whatever) have trouble "attaching" all by themselves....regardless of parenting. The ability to truly connect with another human being may simply not be there. Why do you have ups and downs? It is because you are human...and you have hope....and you will never give up on your son...even though sometimes it seems so hopeless. (((hugs))) again...
