I am going to my sisters for Thanksgiving and am going to make the Yams. I have never made fresh yams (Always out of a can, Lol!!) Can I boil and peel these yams the night before? What I want to do is cook them, Cut them up and put them in a baking dish to be ready for morning. I will add the brown sugar and butter and all in the morning so it would be just the cooked yams in the fridge overnight. If I do it this way, It won't ruin them will it?

Sure you can, just dont' overboil them so that they don't get mushy on you by tomorrow when you put in the oven. :)

Here we go again!
I'm boiling water for the same thing RIGHT NOW! :) Pre-cook and assemble it all and then you can just pop it in the oven tomorrow.
