You could eat off the floor at our house. See? There's a sandwich just over there under the wardrobe... Seriously, our house is untidy but food is kept carefully in the right places and NOT in the wrong places. The kids (older ones) had the house to themselves tonight, and have left the kitchen in a mess. husband & I are NOT washing up - the kids have been told it's their mess, their job. We use a brand of paper towels which you can wash out and re-use. Then when it gets too contaminated, you can throw them away. For example, I wiped down the stove after a messy cooking session. Then I decided to take the electric elements out of the stove and wash it all much more thoroughly. A lot of grease, grime and grit which usually tears my wash cloths to pieces. But the paper towel was still in one piece, so I took it to the bathroom and cleaned the mirrors, the benchtops, the shower walls, the bathtub. STILL in one piece, so I went to the toilet and cleaned it thoroughly, inside and out. After that, even though the paper towel was STILL in one piece, I wasn't going to be washing any more benchtops with it, so out it went. One day the older kids will move out and I can begin to throw stuff out. Marg
