I just realized I haven't posted anything personal in a while...

I always forget to post when things are going well, or at least are unchanged.

I got my dining room back together. The newly painted walls with the new chair rail look awesome... I got the baker's rack I wanted and it's perfect... And I made lace door curtains (just TRY finding premade ones) for the deck doors. The lace cost me $3.99 a yard, so after $20 in materials including the curtain rods and a little straight-line sewing... They actually block the sight from outside but not the light, and being white the room is brighter!

The "media room"/guest bedroom is painted blue. Gone are the horrid red-black-and-white stripes from Onyxx's days in that room... The ones she so desperately wanted then said gave her hallucinations. AGH. DH polyurethaned the built-in shelves he created. Just gorgeous. I'll put up the curtains soon and we're going to look at futons tonight (the kids killed the one we had, then killed the one DH built).

I'm out of steam. I'm even too tired to cook... We had pizza on Tuesday, and leftover pizza last night!

DH is fine, as is Jett. Onyxx is still thinking we're gonna do all that stuff for her... Haven't seen or heard from her since last Saturday. Interestingly, she's allowed a 15-min phone call on Weds to her brother. The first week she called, nothing for the last 3. Yeah.

And that's about it for now...

Thank you for the update. You sure don't waste any time being constructive. Bravo! The lace curtains sound great. You can buy them ready made at Country Curtains, but I don't see how you could have gotten a better price.
The blue guest room sounds lovely after the B&W stripes.
Sorry about Onyxx ... but you surely don't have high expectations at this point, do you?
You've earned your exhaustion and your right to eat anything pre-made.

Oh, I'm hardly surprised about Onyxx. She only ever has been interested in her brother if it gets her somewhere. It's not, so she couldn't care less. It's all a "see how much I love my family and I'm trying so hard and they don't care about me". Yeah, and we have her number...

FWIW, DH and I talked, and I told him I have no problems throwing her out before age 18 if the RTC releases her and she goes back to an IOTA of her old ways (which she will). She's convinced we will get in trouble with the law for kicking her out. If that's the case... Why hasn't it happened to the parents of so many kids who ARE kicked out? Why did they do NOTHING to DH when he refused to bring her home last summer? (She informed me that the runaway shelter was working to take custody away from DH... ORLY? Then why did they "suddenly" stop? And why were they in constant contact with US? sheesh. But, yeah, even if she did call the cops on us - 1) whose names are on the mortgage, me and DH, or Onyxx? And 2) given her history, will they believe HER or US? DUH.

I want real food tonight, but I don't feel like cooking...
