This is when "an eye for an eye" seems awfully justified. That poor child.
We had a similar case here not too long ago. Very, very sad.

We've had some cases like this in Australia, receiving a lot of media spotlight onto our social services who have handed access or custody back to parents who really aren't coping.
This one still has people hurting, and it has brought about some changes in how our services are administered.

Again, the grandmother had been the one raising the boy and again, it was the mother whose custody went bad.
