    OMG! Gotta tell you ...

... what I saw in the store Wednesday! This is one of those things that just make you shake your head and say, "What are they thinking?"

I was in our little local discount store picking up a few things and was near the back of the store close to the pharmacy. Two of the clerks that I know were discussing this young couple that were in the store and they started filling me in. They said this couple came in and were obviously very drunk or high on something, leaning on each other at times and walking unsteadily. They were a mess, both were dirty, all disheveled looking and slurring their words. They came back by the pharmacy, going up and down the aisles a few times. Finally the girl took something off the shelf and navigated towards the pharmacy counter. She was clutching the product in her hand where the clerk couldn't see what she had, and she was mumbling something. It took three tries before the clerk finally understood that she was saying, "IS THIS THE CHEAPEST PREGNANCY TEST YOU HAVE?"

The clerk said she thought she was going to be sick and started to say something not so nice! But she bit her tongue and assured her that it was the cheapest brand they carried, so they both started pulling grubby bills and change out of their pockets until they came up with enough to pay for it. Then the girl, still mumbling, asked her if they could use the stores bathroom! Apparently she was going to pee on the stick right there in the store! So the two of them went stumbling through the store towards the bathroom, kind of holding each other up, and they were still in there when the clerks were telling me about it! I did see them leaving when I was checking out though, and they were truely a mess! Couldn't tell by their faces what the results were, but these two were pitiful. Unbelievable, isn't it!

Ladies, let us now all bow our heads and pray very hard for "NEGATIVE"!

    Praying very hard for "NEGATIVE".
Also praying that, whichever way things go for the test, that the couple find their way to some help.

    I vote negative.

I had a couple who got kind of irrate with me yesterday. I would not sell them alcohol as they were clearly intoxicated. Not making good decisions. I guess it was a little too much New Years. Security had to 'escort' them out. I would rather have called the police and notified them, but I'm just a lowly person who doesn't make those calls.

    Negative, negative, negative.

Well, that is just so sad. Whichever way the test goes, I sure hope they find themselves some help and guidance.

I had a visual picture as I read your post and although I, too, hope negative...they were young, they were prepared to identify the issue using their limited food/booze/drug money, and most importantly they were together.

IF the test is positive, I pray that together they will make changes to assure that their baby has the best chance they can give it. Perhaps they are loving partners and this day will change their lives for the better.

    Prayer said. DDD
DH & I have raised our 24 yr.old grandson. At 14 he turned to pot & booze to cope with problems. He's a GFG#1. In 2005 he fell off a balcony, had brain surgery and has TBI effects. His recovery is very stressful. Time will tell if he ends up GFG or PC. Our GFG#2 is 20 and living with his GFGmom again. He is AS and S/A and not up to independent living. We have 6 adult kids & 11 grands. Yikes.

Re: OMG! Gotta tell you ...

I said a prayer for negative. No baby deserves to be born into that. Sounds like the couple are having a hard enough time "caring" for themselves. Sad all the way around. I'd have directed them to Planned Parenthood or a free clinic where they could get free birth control.

Hey Jo......just noticed your gfg/dd is going to be a fellow vampire! Woot!

Too bad they didn't stop in for condoms. Ugh.

-Still, I believe in miracles and despite what I think? There could still be a chance that a child would be the answer to their unanswered prayers and a start at a new life. Not an easy life - just a new life. Forever and eternal optimist.
