    Fruit...

Friday night, DH and I decided to see if any of the black raspberries were ripe. Soaked ourselves in bug repellant, took a bucket out and...

20 minutes later had about 4 1/2 POUNDS of black raspberries.

Washed them off good... We probably ate another pound... And then turned them into a pie (no sugar added) and some preserves (one jar...More to come!)... And when Mom and I looked last night, there were almost as many ripe again!

    Yum!

My raspberry bush in the backyard will be ready in about 2 more weeks. I'm looking forward to a good harvest, if the local wild rabbits don't get to them first.

Enjoy your raspberry pie and preserves.

The blackberries around here have been large, juicy and wonderful! My fav is oatmeal with blackberries for breakfast!

Sounds like you will be needing to preserve all those berries - wouldn't it be nice to have some nice warm berries in the dead of winter?

Mary - will they grow out there? They love humidity. I've no idea what it's like there, but it's SOGGY here.

    Re: Fruit...

MMMmmm. ......I had a bad experience picking fruit once and will never go again. I was barefoot in Canada on a blueberry farm. I stepped on some black biting anthill and in 2 seconds my entire foot was black with ants, all going up my leg biting me. I started screaming and took off my pants. Dh got the ants off. But I'm glad you had fun, I would be too scared to do that.
