Smile Good Wednesday Morning!

Good Midde of the Week!!

It's great weather for ducks here in the southeast. We are scheduled for rain until Saturday morning! We are under a flood watch today and tomorrow....

After taking gfg to school, pc and I are heading out to the west end area of town for some shopping and errands. We've been planning this since the weekend - I usually save up all my errands in one area - didn't know we would be wading!

Wishing everyone a great day

Sharon

GOOD MORNING

Stay dry Little Dude's Mom - I wish you had a nicer day for all that running.

My neighbor will be here before the bus arrives to help me measure my large living room window. Then we are heading out to a casino for a few hours. Will be back by the time school is out.

GFG stated he might ride the bus to Confirmation. I will meet him there with a snack if we decide to do this.

Everyone have a great day and find a way to make your kids laugh.

G'day, folks.

Sharon/LDM, I hope you can enjoy your shopping without getting too wet. Here's hopping you don't have to deal with crowds all trying to shop to stay out of the rain!

Andy, I'm trying to work out the connection between measuring the window and then going to the casino...

We had a busy day today, but productive. DH took GFG3 to school for his final exam. They arrived erly and GFG3 got whisked away to the previous session - the exam was on computer, they had to do the exam in shifts so they could make sure they had the computer time for all the kids. So he did his exam earlier than expected, then they headed back out of the city back to where I was.

Me? I had to be with PC2/GFG2 and her mediation session. THis harks back to her getting sacked the day she finished up her shifts before taking holidays to get married. The issue is complicated, it also turns out that she was not getting paid her full rate for the last 18 months. The mediation (over the phone) wasn't resolving, but they finally realised she wasn't going to give up easily. Also I think they were beginning to realise that there were other problems with the way they sacked her, that could cause them trouble. So it looks like they may be giving her some of her backpay (we could fight for all of it, but PC2/GFG2 just wants to move on).

We'll know more in the morning. But the clincher was the evidence I'd told her to get, over the few months before she lost her job. She'd been having trouble for some months with a new manager who had been bullying the staff, but when she complained he threatened her with dismissal (this is illegal). So I had told her to get printouts of her contracts and emails. And it turns out - these were vital. Not for the reason I'd originally told her to get them, but simply as evidence that she was working at the senior level.

If the agreement falls through, then her compromise will change to -let's go after them for ALL the back pay.

I don't think it will fall through, somehow.

And in between phone calls, we were going over the paperwork for her unemployment application. Part of the rules means she has to prove she's applied for at least ten jobs in a fortnight, so we grabbed the local paper and she made five enquiries while we waited for all the conciliation phone calls to go back and forth.

The local paper comes out twice a week. The next issue is tomorrow. I also have to see my neurologist tomorrow afternoon, just around the corner from PC2/GFG2's place. By the time I finish, her copy of the local paper shouldhave arrived, so I'll drop in and talk her through some more applications. Usually there's only one or two jobs advertised and unfortunately, her qualifications fall right in between the sort of jobs available. She's too far along in her course for a traineeship, but hasn't got enough experience for the level of qualifications she has.

So today was a day of paperwork, for me.

GFG3 said he wants a day off from schoolwork tomorrow. I think I talked him into doing work but having a quiet day. If I get back home in time, we can try to get to the beach. It was certainly hot enough today, Friday will be even hotter.

I've got more paperwork to deal with, including talking to GFG3's school about his work and making doctor's appointments.

The fridge door got left open, and in this heat several kilos of chops were incubating. So DH grilled some for dinner tonight, and I'm crockpotting the rest for dinner tomorrow. So whatever I'm doing tomorrow, I can know that dinner is dealt with.

Enjoy your Wednesday. may it be as productive as mine was!

Marg

Good morning all.
LDM, we are building our ark out back. Have fun with pc.

Andy, I don't think I have ever been in a casino in the day time. Of course, I can count on one hand how many times I have been at all. Enjoy yourself.

Marguerite, sounds like you have been a big help for your daughter. Lots of work but still sounds like she will receive some compensation which will help a young couple.
Hope gfg 3 does have a quiet day.

We are working on gfg getting more applications out. His job coach is overwhelmed with their staff cuts. Sigh. We will keep trying. Gfg actually said "I don't want my life to be all about work" WTH????Can you see my head explode? I handled it very calmly though. I explained that work defines him as an adult and if can or can't hold a job makes a difference to the direction his life will take. His life right now must be getting a job and holding a job. Sigh. When he says things like that I know he isn't seeing the big picture but just the now. Sometimes when all his cylinders are clicking he does understand but when he is not focusing on work and is in another mindset he forgets where his priorities are.
When he whines that "no one hires him" I remind him he has no marketable skills and very little positive experience. Why should they hire him? He doesn't think too much of my response since it's supposed to be someone else's fault and not his.

Dh is out of town for a few nights. He gets to see pc though. I'm happy the two of them will hang out a bit.

Have a good day. Think good thoughts if you can.

Marg - giggles - My neighbor is going to help me with new curtains. I have the day off of work and since she is gone on the weekends, we very seldom see each other. She likes to go to the casinos. I have only been a few times and the first being last Spring. We found a very rare chance that today both of us are available to spend the day together. I suggested she come over before the kids get on the bus to measure the window (should only take a few minutes) and then we can be on the road as soon as the bus picks up the kids.

So, really no connection between those two, just a connection between the times my neighbor and I can get together.

Fran - giggles again - Diva also made a comment to me about going during a week day. My neighbor and I both like things on the less crowded side so hopefully we will have the place to ourselves so to speak?

Well well well, you live such interesting lives, what with casinos and all!

Here in Israel my life is just calming down and getting back to normal. I married off one of my sons last Sunday (10 days ago), and it was a wonderful "do." This child (aged 24) has been going out with his now wife for the past 6 years and it is a relief that they decided they want to be married finally. They organized a wonderful wedding. We called it "the production." It was gorgeous, and was followed by a week of family celebrations, ending in a festive Sabbath weekend with my whole family (that is: 6 married children, 21 grandchildren one of whom is married), plus a few members of the bride's family, plus some other guests (friends of the children, one of my sisters with some of her family). We found friends and neighbours to let them all sleep locally, and I had the two main meals (Friday night and Saturday Shabbat lunch) catered at a local small hall, and we had the most glorious time. Even GFG behaved himself. I am hugging myself that we all spent about 27 hours together without any tension or friction.

But I must admit to being rather tired (and so is DH). I keep on falling asleep, at work, at the kitchen table. I suppose we aren't getting any younger!!

So there you are. Hope everyone has a good meltdown-free Wednesday.

Love, Esther

Thanks Fran. It really does feel good at the moment. Don't want to tempt fate by writing too much about feeling like that.

I'm so happy to check in and be part of this community! We went to our diva GFG's parent-teacher conference - always an experience - and this time, GFG was taking notes as to what she could do better! This is my child???? Got to say, the ADHD dx and the meds seem to be making a HUGE difference in her self-esteem. Although her grades are a big problem, the teacher said she had NO social problems (this was the girl who couldn't stop chattering in/disrupting class for the past 7 years!). I'm utterly flabbergasted and relieved. We're getting the IEP soon too, so that will help give her support in the classroom.

GFG2 comes home this evening. He got a mild concussion at school, which puts him out of football - and we are ALL (including him) relieved. My partner is gearing up for the weekly battles, but I feel that because I'm able to come here, I have back-up - so I can be HER back-up as she comes into understanding more about what's going on with him.

Happy Wednesday, all!
