    When is enough enough?

Sorry for the upcoming book. Difficult Child will be 18 next month. She hasn't been hospitalized in years. She takes her medications, because I make her. Not that they make that much of a difference. She kept things at a constant simmer, just enough that we couldn't seek help from the police, and...

Raise your hand if a little mania is starting to creep into your house this spring.

Yup...hand up here too. difficult child talks so fast her mouth moves faster than her brain does, and things come out mush. Gets all sorts of ideas for projects, starts them, and abandons them soon after, and there's been a marked increase in her hypervigilance and paranoia too. We got a week of relative...

Sad to say but I have to move easy child into the difficult child category...

I 3rd "The Primal Wound". Excellent book. I'm an adoptee, it helped me immensely. Sorry things are so rough for you right now.

New here, exhausted, and at the end of my tether

husband and I are on the same page, we try to present a united front. He works crazy hours though, and as much as he backs my decisions, its generally me who has to deal with the discipline aspect. Bio dad is in the ether somewhere. No contact for 5+ years, and prior to that, it was sporadic at...

New here, exhausted, and at the end of my tether

Thanks for the warm welcome, nice to have a soft spot to land in all this. I'm lucky to have my mother in law right down the street, if she is home when difficult child starts up, easy child goes and hangs with grandma. When that's not an option, easy child is to get to the nearest safe place (my room, her own room) and...

New here, exhausted, and at the end of my tether

We've definitely considered it, and its where she would be right now if we could afford it or our insurance covered it. We are waiting/case building with the county, if she still hasn't improved after they've been involved for 6 months (3 left to go) they will look into funding options for us...

New here, exhausted, and at the end of my tether

Well, to make a really long story sort of short, a year ago today difficult child was released from her first psychiatric hospital stay for brandishing a knife at herself and her stepdad, and threatening to kill herself because the dogs interrupted her youtube viewing. Things seem to have only gotten worse. She may not...

    Abilify

Unfortunately Abilify didn't help my difficult child, her symptoms continued, and on top of that her memory was completely shot. She couldn't remember conversations from 5 minutes before, and school work was a nightmare because she couldn't remember anything she learned in class, which in turn amped up the...
